McGregor, Texas — One man is in jail, another is dead, and a woman is injured, following an early morning stabbing in McGregor.
According to the police report, McGregor Police Department received a 911 call from a local business in McGregor at 12:10 a.m. on Sunday. The caller advised there was a fight and a stabbing in the parking lot. Officers arrived at the location and found Charles Darrell McKenzie, 49, from McGregor, with several wounds. A believed suspect, officers were informed, was said to have left the scene.
McGregor Police Department advised officers at the first location that there was a Hispanic male and female in the parking lot of the Police Department and there appeared to be injuries on one of them. Two officers returned to the Police Department and found the two people in the parking lot, Paula Rios, 32, and Augustine Jimenez Guerrero, 33, both of McGregor.
While officers were administering emergency care to Rios, who had also been stabbed, they were advised Guerrero was being identified as the person who stabbed McKenzie. Guerrero was taken into custody and later taken to the McLennan County Jail by McGregor Police Department.
McKenzie was taken to Hillcrest Hospital by ETMC, and Rios was taken by CareFlight to Scott and White in Temple.
McKenzie was pronounced deceased at 1:10 a.m. by J.P. Christy Declute. McKenzie was taken to the Dallas Medical Center (SWIFT) for an autopsy. Investigation will continue.
