Bruceville-Eddy, TX — An overpass bridge in Bruceville-Eddy will be demolished Tuesday night in order to make the crossing an underpass instead for the future.
But that will take time.
The Old Blevins Rd. bridge crossing at mile marker 314 on Interstate 35 is set to come down Tuesday.
The actual disassembly will only take one night but the crossing will be out of service for more than a year.
Drivers from the west going north will have travel south four miles just to turn around.
Drivers from the east going south will have to detour a mile north.
The work may be a thorn in the side of some commuters, but the work will make everything more efficient in the long run.
“Some of the county-road traffic that intersects there may have to go a little further to take that turn around, but overall it will be a much better and safer facility in that area for the future," said Ken Roberts of Texas Department of Transportation.
Demolition starts at seven Tuesday night and runs through seven in the morning.
All traffic will be diverted to the frontage roads during the construction.
