Six Central Texas Chick-fil-A® restaurants join together for the Fifth Annual Operation Christmas Child "Fill a Box with Love" event.

Each restaurant will serve as a pick-up and drop-off point for the “Fill a Box with Love” initiative. More than 1,500 boxes were collected during last year’s drive. Customers can pick up empty shoeboxes at the Chick-fil-A restaurants in Waco, Temple, Killeen and Harker Heights. They can then return the shoeboxes, filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene products and a personal note on Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Customers will receive a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A® chicken sandwich for each packaged shoe box they return. Samaritan’s Purse will distribute the boxes to disadvantaged children around the world. Gift ideas and instructions on how to pack the box can be found on the Samaritan’s Purse website.

“For the past four years, the community has been extremely generous through our Operation Christmas Child fundraiser,” said Debbie Quarles, restaurant marketing director of the Chick-fil-A at Franklin Avenue. “We hope to see that same level of generosity this year so that we can provide children around the world with holiday cheer they may not otherwise have.”

More than 450 shoeboxes were given out this Saturday, when the event kicked off. Quarles says the shoeboxes will go to children in more than 120 countries.
