Waco, TX — The city of Waco and Waco ISD have agreed to swap real estate.
Details of the deal are still being worked out.
The district would get a municipal softball park that lies behind the Caesar Chavez Middle School, which is currently being renovated.
The city wants a plot of land next to the vacant Indian Spring Middle School in downtown.
The city would like to use that lot for parking.
The two parties would like to swap straight up, but the value of the school’s lot is worth more.
“When appraisals take place they determine that one piece of land may be worth more than the other piece of land and so you have to tweak the deal in some form of fashion to make it best for both parties and that’s what’s currently taking place," said Dale Caffey of Waco ISD.
The school board is expected to continue discussions next week.
