The emergency phone lines for police departments are being tied up, by toddlers who are using their parents old cell phones as toys.
Cell phones have safety features that allow a deactivated cell phone to continue to dial emergency numbers, allowing children to accidently call the police. Police say this could prevent those with a medical emergency, to get through the line quickly.
Police say that if a parent decides to let their children use their old cell phones as a toy, make sure to remove the batter, and the SIM card, to avoid any more accidents like this from occurring.
Police also say that not only is leaving the battery in the phone hazardous for emergency personnel, the batter could also be a danger to the child's health.
