COLLEGE STATION -- It was 12 years ago today that the Bonfire collapsed killing 12, injuring 27 and changing the lives of Aggies forever.

So today, Aggies spent the day remembering the fallen 12 and paying tribute to their lives.

Early this morning thousands of Aggies headed out to the Bonfire Memorial on A&M's campus to be there at 2:42 a.m., the exact time the 5-story log structure collapsed back in 1999 and Aggies say it's the least they can do to honor those that lost their lives that morning because they'll never be forgotten.

"The beauty of Texas A&M and of the Aggies is that they all come together and so yeah I think there is a lot of irony in the 12 and the 12 and now we're in another 12 but I think some amazing things, starting at 2:42 a.m. this morning. I mean amazing things are going to happen this week and it's going to be a very emotional week for a lot of people," said one Aggie mom, Darlene Ellisson.

An emotional week for the 12th Man, remembering the tragedy twelve years ago that took twelve lives.

One senior even left his beloved Aggie ring at the memorial site in honor of those who never got the chance to get theirs.
