WACO -- A Cesar Chavez Middle School teacher turned herself into police Thursday for endangering a child.
An arrest affidavit says the incident began when 59-year-old Roberta Buck wouldn't let the students watch a movie, blaming it on one student.
Investigators say in the affidavit, "[Buck's comments] resulted in a majority of the class striking [the victim] about his head and upper back/shoulder areas."
The affidavit says Buck allowed the hitting, even giving the class permission to hit the student.
After that, the affidavit says the victim made it known that he was going to report what happened.
That's when police say Buck had a private conversation with the student.
Investigators say, "Buck came out of the room and told the class that he made a comment that he did not like 'n******' or some variation of the comment."
According to the affidavit, the victim was surrounded by other students with intentions to fight him.
Police investigated and say it put the student at risk suffering physical injury.
Buck is currently suspended with pay from the school.
Waco ISD says it's too late in the school year to terminate Buck's contract, but they don't anticipate hiring her back next year.
