WACO -- Authorities are investigating a body found inside a burning car on a rural road outside of Waco.
At 6:55 a.m. Thursday police responded to the 400 block of Eastland Lake Drive in Robinson where a woman driving by on her way to work saw a Cadillac engulfed in flames and reported it to police.
After firefighters were able to put it the flames they discovered a body in the back seat of the vehicle.
"It is undetermined of the race, gender, or age of that individual because the body was so badly burned," said McLennan County Chief Deputy Randy Plemons.
The body has been sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
Detectives are also working to identify what appears to have been a newer vehicle as the license plates still had dealer tags on them.
