BRYAN -- Pretty soon the Bryan ISD school buses will be moving billboards.
Last night the Board of Trustees agreed to a contract with a Houston-based advertising group to sell advertisements on their school buses.
That means local businesses and companies can pay to have their ads on a bus.
The idea of a "billboard on wheels" may be new to the Bryan-College Station area but more than 15 other school districts already participate.
And with a $3 million dollar budget deficit next year, Bryan ISD officials say this agreement is a no-brainer.
"It really is easy money for us if you use that term. It's a win-win. We don't have to invest any sales people, we simply review the advertising that comes in. We'll have the ability to approve all businesses and all ads," said Bryan ISD spokeswoman, Sandy Farris.
Farris said alcohol, tobacco or religious ads will not be allowed.
BISD will get 60-percent of the profit and they plan to have the ads in place by January.
