KILLEEN -- Police have arrested a man for burglarizing a home and shooting at the owner.

It happened around 2:00 p.m. in the 6400 block of Taree Loop. The resident returned home to find two males were removing property from the residence.

After a confrontation, police say one of the suspects displayed a weapon and fired a shot.

Patrol officers located the suspect vehicle in the area and stopped it at Ida and Elms Road. During the patrol investigation, one of the suspects forced his way through the patrol vehicle window and escaped on foot.

Police say the majority of the patrol units have bars on the windows; however, this was an older unit. In addition, the air conditioning does not work well, so the window was left partially open to allow the suspect to have air.

Officers searched for the escapee, eventually locating him hiding in the area of Doffy and John Hage. He was arrested and transported to the Killeen City jail.

Police aren't releasing the names of the suspects yet, but say no one was injured.
