Central Texans can pick up unclaimed money from state
WACO -- Money might be tight for some, but if you're looking to get some money back from the state, you might be in luck.
The Texas Comptroller says 1 in 4 Texans has left behind money, making up $2.2 billion in unclaimed property just waiting to be picked up.
Spokesperson for the Comptroller, R.J. DeSilva, says it's surprising how much money people forget. "People may have forgotten about old bank accounts or uncashed checks or rent and utility deposits or other types of accounts that they have had. It gets turned over to the state and it sits here at the state level waiting for people to come claim it."
The unclaimed property list will be in Sunday's Temple Daily Telegram and Austin American Statesman. Click here to find out if you have unclaimed property waiting for you.
