WACO -- Veterans, military personnel and other organizations came together Thursday to honor the veterans and their service. People of all ages gathered in Waco while more than 130 units paraded downtown.

The crowd was excited to see the festivities and says, and one member of the crowd, Amanda Hickman, said it was a touching event to be a part of.  "It makes me want to cry just standing here thinking about all the people who have gone over and given up time with their family, time at their job and even lost their lives providing safety for us and the freedoms that we all talk about and love," Hickman said.

VA medical centers in Waco and Temple had ceremonies commemorating the day, and Belton held a ribbon cutting  to dedicate the Patriot Way brick wall.
