Drug deal goes bad in Hewitt

A man who started as the victim of a crime is now behind bars for committing one.

19-year-old Trenton Scott Barrett of Lorena reported an aggravated robbery on October 7th at the Wal-Mart on Hewitt Dr.

He claimed his wallet had been stolen and the suspect had pulled a pistol on him.

But after further investigation, it turns out it was a drug deal gone bad.

Michael Collins was arrested for allegedly stealing Barrett's wallet.

But then, Barrett turned himself in last night for filing a false report.

Now the McLennan County District Attorney has dropped the aggravated robbery charges against Collins but he remains in jail on prior charges.
