Eldery woman rescued during fire

An elderly woman from Downsville, was reportedly sleeping, when her house in caught on fire early Sunday afternoon.

The smoke and flames caught the attention of two local citizens who were driving down the street.

Sherri Brewer and the other citizen, decided to go inside Myrtle Ashers' house, to see if anyone was trapped inside. When they found Ms. Asher in her bed, the quickly took her out, just moments before the roof collapsed, saving her life.

Several fire departments were called to the scene, but the fire had already caused a total loss.

While the cause is still under investigation, police say that Ms. Asher had a wood burning stove, and heaters in her room, which may have started the fire.
