MCLENNAN CO -- A Washing D.C. newspaper poll released Wednesday shows Edwards trailing Flores 12 points. The poll shows 50 percent of likely voters supporting Flores and 42 percent supporting Edwards.
A spokesperson for Edwards, Megan Jacobs, says the poll, taken Oct. 19-21, is old and doesn't take into account significant gains made by Edwards in the last week. "The only poll that really counts is at the ballot box, and we are seeing voters coming back to support Chet’s positive record of fighting for jobs and championing veterans in contrast to Mr. Flores’ plans that would hurt our jobs, our students, our veterans, and our seniors," says Jacobs in a statement released Thursday.
Another update, Marva Beck has raised nearly $600,000 in the last 30 days of the race between her and House Rep. Jim Dunnam, in a report by the Waco Tribune. Dunnam tells us he expects the Republicans to throw more advertising at him in the last few days before the election. He now plans to focus on getting voters out to the polls Tuesday and is anxious to see what happens.
