WACO -- Late Friday night, a box of puppies was found in the parking lot of the Humane Society of Central Texas in Waco.
Luckily a Humane Society worker found the eleven puppies in a rabbit cage before leaving for the night.
The dogs have been taken in and are now being cared for with the hopes that they can be adopted in the next week or so.
They believe the dogs are about 6 weeks old.
But if you have or find an animal and need to drop it off after hours, there is a safer way to do that.
"We do actually have two side pens that are available for people to use after hours. Please, use the side pens and then call us back in the morning or leave information about where you found the animal, all those kinds of basic things because the more knowledge we have, we can get the animals back to their owner," Humane Society Spokesperson, Gina Ford said.
To help prevent unwanted litters, the Humane Society urges owners to get their animals spayed and neutered.
