WACO -- After a record-breaking weekend for energy use ERCOT is encouraging Central Texans to use energy less and more wisely to avoid rolling blackouts.

Especially between 3 and 7 p.m. they ask that you turn off extra lights and raise your home thermostat to 78 degrees or higher.

But there are a few extra things you should watch out for.

"Swimming pool pumps. If they could not run their pool pump between 3 and 7. There's a lot of talk about water conservation. If people won't water their yards between 3 and 7 in the afternoon, water pumps won't have to cut on to push that water to the consumer," Heart of Texas Electric Co-op's Ron Poston said.

So long as we do our part to conserve, Poston said we can avoid rolling blackouts and potential damage to our local energy generators.

With lower temperatures hopefully on the way toward the end of this week, ERCOT is specifically asking that we conserve energy tomorrow between 3 and 7 pm.
