WACO -- Congressman Bill Flores was in Waco for Memorial Day.
He spoke at Rosemound Cemetery to honor local fallen soldiers.
Applause broke out as the Congressman told veterans he would do more to support them in Washington.
Flores told Fox 44 we can never do enough to thank those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
Flores said in his campaign he wanted to privatize veteran's health care. Monday, he stressed the importance of making sure veteran benefits and health care is fully funded in 2012.
"With all the difficulties that we have with the country's fiscal situation, one of the things that we were concerned about was some attempts to balance the budget of the backs of veterans," says Flores. "I was glad to be able to work on a bipartisan basis to be able to make that didn't happen."
Flores is part of the Veterans Affairs committee and the Budget Committee.
He says it was important for parties on both sides to remember our veteran's priorities when writing the budget.
