FORT HOOD -- Fort Hood Lt. Gen. Bob Cone spoke today from Camp Victory in Iraq. Gen. Cone focused on our boys at Fort Hood and how they're doing overseas.
He's in charge of the III Corps. Soldiers who will re-deploy next month, ending the corps' third deployment to Iraq.
Gen. Cone also touched on the topic of soldier suicides, saying coming home can be a very tough transition.
"We typically have fairly low suicide rates when you're deployed in theater. When they get back home, the soldier gets breathing space and often times isn't under as much close supervision, they don't want to be under as close supervision, and sometimes they need to be," said Cone.
Gen. Cone also says a lot of times families need the help with the transition as well, and he praised Fort Hood for their programs for behavioral health.
