Not even a year since the tragic shooting at Fort Hood, the news of gunfire at another Texas military base hit home at Fort Hood today. The attitude in the community is one of shock and disbelief. People say they can't believe this was allowed to happen again. Some soldiers are wondering what's next in what they considered to be one of the most secure places in the world.
Dina Grant has lived in the community around Fort Hood for years. She is one of several who never expected what happened at Fort Hood last year. She said she is can't believe a shooting happened again at a military base and security should be a main priority in preventing tragedies like this in the future.
One resident at Fort Hood described how her husband, a soldier in the army, reacted to the shootings. She said, "My husband is kind of like, this isn't supposed to happen here. It's not supposed to happen in America. It shouldn't be happening anywhere, but on an army post, it shouldn't be happening. He just takes a deep breath and goes, what's next?"
Military officials aren't allowed to talk about the cause of the Fort Bliss shooting. As the investigation continues, the community at Fort Hood is waiting eagerly to find out how this all happened.
