Frozen yogurt, a guilt free snack
COLLEGE STATION -- We may whine and moan every time we step outside and wipe the sweat from our face but one business is loving this heat and doing better than ever.
When you feel like you're practically melting outside, sometimes the most appetizing thing is a cold treat.
And while ice cream has been a favorite for years, these days more people are leaning towards frozen yogurt.
"It definitely is something that people are starting to get more into. Ice cream obviously has got more fat in it and most of our yogurts are fat free so you can stay with the healthy approach," said assistant manager at Yogurtland, Liz Knox.
And the healthy approach isn't the only thing making this frozen snack more popular.
Blake Ethridge, a customer, said, "I really like frozen yogurt because you get to control your portion size and control what toppings you get and stuff like that."
Knox says she finds that appeals to customers the most.
"That's a really big thing for moms that come in with little kids. they don't always get a cup full so we offer it by the ounce just so that way they can get a little bit or more if they want so it's good because they like options."
And get these numbers, a half cup of ice cream has around 200-calories a serving but frozen yogurt has half of that, and 45-percent less fat.
A guilt-free snack on a hot day.
