Gatesville man arrested after domestic violence dispute

Gatesville Police were dispatched to a residence in the 3400 block of Empress Drive in reference to a Domestic Disturbance. While enroute to the call, officers were told that the suspect, had physically assaulted his wife and was brandishing a knife.

Police say a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper arrived first on scene. The Trooper reported that the suspect was inside the house and had barricaded the door.

Police say they ordered the suspect to drop his knife, but when he refused, a taser was used to gain compliance. After the suspect dropped the knife,he was taken into custody.

The suspect, identified as Michael Dean Wells, age 39, of Gatesville has been charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Unlawful Restraint, two counts of Assault on a Public Servant, and a Capias Warrant for Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces.
