BRYAN -- If you want to enjoy some good Texas cuisine, eat out this week!
Local restaurants and wineries are displaying some of the finest foods they have to offer and it's all locally grown, right here in Texas.
Starting this week, restaurants all throughout the state, will be celebrating Texas cuisine.
Owner of Messina Hoff Winery and Resort, Paul Bonarrigo said, "This year I think we're going to have over 600 Texas restaurants promoting 'Go Texas' and Texas wine and Texas food products."
The Texas Department of Agriculture is promoting the 'Go Texan Restaurant Round-Up,' where locally grown food and wine is on display.
The Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner, Todd Staples said, "They're show-casing locally produced items; fruits and vegetables, Texas Gulf Sea food, and of course always award-winning beef and poultry that we have and more, right here in Texas."
And this year is no exception.
One local winery has created a special menu just for this occasion.
"Our entire menu is promoting 'Go Texas' so everything on the menu is grown locally. and we support Texas wines and we support everything that is grown here, especially here in the Brazos Valley," said Bonarrigo.
At Messina Hoff, 80 percent of their menu, year round comes, from within a 50 mile radius.
And Bonarrigo hopes that other restaurants will soon take part.
"The movement is very, very important because we are supporting our local farmer, we are supporting the local farm, we're keeping farms in people's families and we're not promoting foods from outside of the state, we are promoting Texas," said Bonarrigo.
So if your plans involve eating out this week, support your fellow Texans, and buy things that are locally grown.
