KILLEEN -- A local smoothie shop in Killeen had a special ribbon cutting Wednesday.

The owner of Smoothie D's, Derek Tittle, presented a check to the new Children's Hospital in Temple. The $25,000 will go toward the $50 million it costs to build the hospital.

He has challenged local businesses to donate what they can as well.

John Surette has been in and out the hospital his whole life, receiving 55 surgeries since birth. He was the one to receive the check from Tittle for the hospital.
