WACO -- At least six people are homeless Tuesday after a fire burnt down a duplex.
The house in the 2700 block of 42nd St. was engulfed in flames around 8 a.m. Firefighters spent about an hour trying to put them out.
They aren't sure what caused the fire but say it started in the kitchen.
Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Kerwin says getting back to the house was a challenge.
"It sits far back on the road. Crews had to run a very long line in order to get a hose back to the kitchen area so that took a little bit of doing there."
Fire fighters tell Fox 44 they were concerned since there were so many cars behind the house, but turns out. no one was home when the fire started.
