WACO -- Around 7 Christmas night a car accident was reported at the 2200 block of Gholson in Waco.
But no one was found in the car.
And shortly after, the abandoned car became a missing person case.
"We had a helicopter up helping us search the areas where we thought he may be, we had officers on foot re-search the areas," Sgt. Patrick Swanton with the Waco Police Department said.
But John Hall, 51, could not be found, until now.
Bellmead police wouldn't comment on camera but tell us a lawn-care worker was mowing at La Vega Elementary School Wednesday when he saw a body and called police.
Waco police got involved when an initial ID indicated it may be their missing person John Hall about 3-miles from the original crash site.
"We went out a visually verified that it was in fact Mr. Hall based on his physical description, tattoo's, identification that he had in his pocket and things like that," Sgt. Swanton said.
Police are still investigating how Hall got from his car crash site, to the area around La Vega Elementary School. Also, how long he may have been deceased before he was found and what exactly was his cause of death because he did have underlying health conditions.
"Once Bellmead gets those autopsy results back they will be able to share that with us so we can help determine what was the cause of Mr. Hall's death," Sgt. Swanton said.
