Killeen police investigate shooting death

Killeen Police are investigating the shooting death of a 36-year old Killeen man just before 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

Officers were called to a shooting that happened in the 2800 block of Schwald Rd. at 5:50 p.m. While en route, police learned the man was being taken by to a local hospital. He later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 7:03 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.

The investigation has revealed that the victim went to the residence and met with a heavyset black man and a heavyset Hispanic man both approximately 5’10” to 6’1” tall. The victim went inside the residence for a short time and came back outside with a gunshot wound to the chest area. The two suspected gunmen were seen leaving the house through the back door and ran north onto Fort Hood from the area.

The name of the victim has been withheld pending the notification of his next of kin.
