COLLEGE STATION -- The bad weather this afternoon didn't slow down construction at Fire Station No. Six in College Station.
For the past several months crews have been working at the future site for Station Six and today, one of the final steel beams was put into place.
City staff and members of the College Station Fire Department were on hand to see the construction crew place the last beam.
Chief R.B. Alley said, "Today's ceremony is a turning point in the construction of our new fire station six. Actually what people will see now, they've seen a skeletal frame of steel structure, and now they'll start seeing more walls put up and the roof going on and what's its going to turn out to be here in the very near future is our new home for our new firefighters."
Chief Alley says construction is on schedule and Station No. Six should be open this October.
