WACO -- The labor day weekend might be limited for lake goers since the drought has dried-up boat ramps and swimming areas.
Water levels are down eight feet and the boat ramps are non-existent at Tradinghouse Lake so McLennan County has taken safety measures by filling up those ramps with dirt to keep people away from the steep drop-offs at the end of each ramp.
And it couldn't happen at a worse time than a holiday weekend.
But one local agrees while the blockoff's are unfortunate, they are necessary.
"I think that uh people are going to be a little disappointed. especially since it's labor day weekend, you know everybody was probably going to come out here but can just fish from the bank right here you know, the water is a little bit low but that means we can get out a little bit deeper. so it's good and bad," said a Waco resident.
Along with Tradinghouse, Lake Whitney has also closed some of it's boat ramps due to the low levels.
And Meridian State Park is closed as well for the holiday weekend.
