WACO -- In an effort to keep Waco "going green" and staying beautiful even in these tough times, Mayor Bush joined the Texas Forest Service and local students to celebrate Arbor Day.

Groups gathered to plant a tree at Vanguard College Prepratory School to remind the community about sustainability and protecting mother nature.

Mayor Bush says even in the midst of the budget crisis and the wildfires, we can't forget about our goals for Waco.

"I think it's still important. I think we will see less federal dollars and less state dollars allocated to that type of endeavor for a while," said Mayor Bush. "but the local folks will just have to pick up the ball and run with it."

Mayor Bush says the city of Waco is continuing efforts to go green as part of their "Keep Waco Beautiful" campaign.
