TEMPLE -- Tonight Temple police are investigating why and how a man was hit and killed by a train.
It happened near the 4100 block of Charter Oak Drive just before 11 last night.
An initial investigation found the man was sitting on the tracks and failed to move in time before getting hit by the train.
But further details are still being investigated.
"The primary concern is the safety of, why was a person doing that, and where were they coming from and where were they going? Were other facts involved such as any kind of intoxication or asleep or anything like that, all those answers are what we're looking for today," Sgt. Brad Hunt with Temple PD said.
The conductor says that he saw the man but was unable to stop the train in time.
The victim's identity has not yet been released.
