Man killed while repairing truck

Thomas Vernon Wooten, 37, of McLennan County died at a local hospital after he was injured while working on his vehicle.

Medical personnel and police were called to Airport Park Marina at 5:38pm Sunday, after someone called stating that a man had been injured when the truck he was working on exploded.

Witnesses told officers that Wooten had been having trouble lately with the alternator coming loose on his suburban and was working under the hood with the accident occurred. Unknown at this time, but it’s believed that the alternator either exploded or came loose causing parts of the alternator to strike Wooten in the neck.

Wooten was transported by East Texas Medical Center ambulance to Hillcrest Hospital were he was immediately taken into surgery. Wooten later died due his injuries.
