WACO -- A busy morning for Midway ISD as today is the first day the school district accepted applications for transfer students.
This year the district will accept up to 100 out-of-district transfer students to help bring in more money in the wake of budget cuts.
As of today already 35 students have applied and several have picked up packets.
Transfers are accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis pending the student meets all the requirements.
"Students have to have good behavior, good attendance, good grades and pass state exams. and they have to get all that paperwork to us and this goes through Mid-June," said Traci Marlin, Midway ISD spokesperson.
For every new student attending Midway the district receives approximately $6,000 of revenue from the state.
