NAVASOTA -- If you travel through Navasota's downtown area, you've probably noticed it's getting a bit of a face lift.

The city is spending ten million dollars to make a number or renovations and upgrades, including a new city hall, now home to three different departments: administration, public works and the police department.

Mayor Bert Miller says the change has made it easier for people living there.

"It's enabled people to come and make one stop, you know, and pay their bill here, pay a municipal court fee here, visit with the police department, or also get permits and things like that and not have to go to three different places that are spread out," said Mayor Miller.

The city also has plans to fix four surrounding downtown streets and tear down the old city hall building to build more parking, public bathrooms and a visitor kiosk.

Miller said all the construction should be done by spring of next year.
