Officer involved shooting under investigation

Police are investigation an officer involved shooting incident, in Copperas Cove, Monday night.

A store clerk at the 7-Eleven convenience store on 501 North 1st. Street, reported that a man with a gun had entered the store. She said the man allowed her to leave, but held another employee at gunpoint.

When police arrived, they saw Brandon Benson holding a gun at a clerk, and tried to make contact with him. Then Benson lifted the gun to the employees head. That's when an officer shot at the suspect through the window. Benson then put the gun down and was taken into custody.

Police say nobody was injured during the incident.

Benson is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, with a bond set at $50,000 dollars per charge.
