Oil prices are at an all time high for the year, and gasoline prices are continuing to rise.
The national price for unleaded regular gas is approximately $2.85. While Waco's prices are slightly lower, they are expected to continue to increase.
One Waco citizen says that she feels helpless because gas is something that she has to purchase, no matter the cost. She says she will be spending more money on gasoline, and less on other typical purchases.
Owner of a local oil company, Steve Callaway, says that because there has been more concerns about the environment, the vast amount of coal supply and nuclear power are being ignored. Mr. Callaway also attributes this price increase to government regulations that are put on refineries to make even less pollution, which also costs money. While he also supports keeping a clean environment, it is important to let people know that will increase expenses.
With gasoline prices rising, there are tools to use to find the cheapest gas prices. One helpful Website to find these prices is texasgasprices.com. There are also applications on some cell phones, that direct you to the nearest station with the best prices.
