COLLEGE STATION -- The man responsible for the brutal stabbing of the 12-year old girl has been arrested.

It happened Monday night at a College Station McDonalds. Police say they found 23-year-old John Murphy III in Houston.

The probable cause statement says Murphy was sitting down eating when 12-year-old Melanie Ceballos came in with her father who works at the restaurant.

The statement says Murphy looked at the girl, and walked up to her while unfolding a knife. He then stabbed her in the stomach.

Ceballos was taken to a local hospital and underwent surgery. The girl's conditions are unknown.

Murphy is now in Brazos County Jail.
