President Obama says longer school years would make sense, but he recognizes the money to make that happen isn't always going to be there. One local school district says it's a good theory, but funding could be an issue.
Traci Marlin at the Midway Independent School District says, "It would have a lot of financial implications for the school districts right now, at a time when they are actually cutting education funding. Although it would be a really positive thing in many, many ways, i don't know that the resources are there right now for that to happen."
Obama also said longer school years aren't the only thing that will fix our education system. Teachers not meeting certain standards should be let go to improve education standards.
