COLLEGE STATION -- GPS devices, electronics and jewelry are just a few of the items popular among thieves during the holiday season.

But College Station police warn you to watch your holiday decorations before they disappear, too.

College Station has already seen a number of cases where holiday decorations have been taken from a home's yard but Officer Rhonda Seaton says if you take a few extra precautions while setting up your decorations, you can help keep the thieves away.

"For your wire reindeer and those type of ornaments you can, if there is any place on there to mark, you can mark it with a metal engraver or a permanent marker. The same with the blow ups, you can mark it with some type of identifying mark or your driver's license number."

Officer Seaton also recommends staking your decorations to the ground and taking pictures of all of them to show police in case they are stolen.
