Pumpkins still available after worst growing season
Believe it or not Halloween is only 12 days away, but pumpkin farmers are facing their worst growing season ever.
From the drought down South to Hurricane Irene up North, growing season has had its fair share of obstacles this year.
But thankfully for those in Waco, pumpkin shipments came in before the weather could do more damage.
And at Central Christian Church, you'll find thousands to choose from, and a few tips to keep them looking their best.
"If your pumpkins especially are going to be sitting on your front porch... you get floor wax just that you use to mop your floor... you can coat the whole pumpkin with floor wax and that helps to provide kind of a little barrier and a seal, and that helps the pumpkins last longer and makes them really shiny and pretty," Central Christian Church Associate Minister Kristin Jack said.
Central Christian Church has the largest pumpkin patch in Waco with at one point about 10,000 pumpkins.
But even their pumpkin distributor in New Mexico said this was the worst growing season they've seen in almost 40 years.
