WACO -- Students at Rapoport Academy are hearing from veterans today. It's in part to honor veterans, and also to learn from the vets. Students spent all day with the vets today, listening to stories from different wars in hopes to get a detailed account of history.

A student at Rapoport, Lawrence Scott, says it's a great way to learn about history and also what to change in the future. "It also teaches us the sacrifices they make so that we can be free, and that's really important," said Scott. "Freedom is a really important thing."

A Vietnam War Veteran, Robert Carter, told us the kids really seem to be curious about it and want to understand. Carter said, "The reason we did was for them so hopefully they wont have to go to war."

Teachers say this is a great way for students to learn about history, giving them more of the story than what they read in textbooks.
