WACO -- A riot Saturday night had people throwing rocks and bottles at police in a peaceful neighborhood at local family recreation facility.

Officers were called just after 11:00 to the YMCA located at 6800 Harvey Dr.

Officers arrived to find a crowd of more than 150 adults and children.

The crowd refused to leave and started throwing rocks and bottles at the officers. Officers and their vehicles were hit with rocks.

Police released canisters of smoke, but the crowd only moved the crowd to an adjacent parking lot where police say they continued to hurl objects at officers.

Officers say they had no choice but let off CS gas at which point the crowd began dispersing.

No arrests were made, and no officers or citizens reported injuries.
