BRAZOS COUNTY -- An early morning fight at Neal's Hideaway between two women turns deadly Sunday.
Police say one of their boyfriend's pulled a gun and killed a Brenham man and now, the accused man is in jail.
Patricia Griffin, owner of Neil's Hideaway says on any given night between 75 to 100 people are at the bar.
"This is a small neighborhood. A lot of people come by from everywhere, Navasota, Bryan-College Station, Houston, they drop in. You know, it's a safe environment."
Or at least that's what Griffin thought until Sunday morning, when 22 year-old Brice Bennett was shot and killed in the parking lot after a fight broke out.
Sheriff Chris Kirk said, "We responded to the scene there and the only people we found there were the license holder and her husband. It turns out that there could have been up to 100 people there at the time of the incident and all of them left the area."
Including Bennett, who was taken to a local hospital, and was dead upon arrival.
Officers interviewed Griffin and Bennett's friends. They identified 27 year-old Brandon Richardson as the shooter.
"He took out a pistol and he shot shots and it was one of the bullets that struck our victim," said Sheriff Kirk.
Griffin says Brandon Richardson was a regular at the bar.
"I am very, you know upset. I'm shocked that it happened."
Richardson is charged with manslaughter and is in the Brazos County Jail tonight.
