COLLEGE STATION -- After months of waiting, the SEC has finally announced A&M will be the joining the conference.
So the 12th man, will now be the 13th team and Aggies all over the country couldn't be happier about it.
Fox 28's Lauren Holman went to campus today to get student's reaction to the news.
Tonight Aggie fans are putting the disappointing loss to OSU behind them and looking forward to the future.
"The nation's going to know Texas A&M more and we aren't going to be in Texas's shadow where we can be out there which is going to be super awesome," said Lucas Aubrey, a Texas A&M senior.
Sunday, the SEC announced Texas A&M will officially be joining the conference unconditionally and the campus has been buzzing ever since.
"It's really exciting. Every body's talking about it and even people who aren't from A&M. Every body's talking about it in Texas and it's a very exciting time around here," said freshman, Jonathan Jones.
This is the third conference for the Aggies in the past two decades but most Aggie students agree this move is for the better.
"I think it'll add to the recruiting basis. You know people that want to play in Texas but still want to play in the best athletic conference there is, they can play for Texas A&M and play in the SEC," said sophomore Allen Sparkman.
The move will be effective July 2012 and while some students believe it will initially be a hard transition, they say it's all worth it.
"Just to know that I can say yeah, I was there when the battle of Baylor was coming at us and they don't want us to leave and I can say no we stuck it to them. We're going to go to the SEC, so just being a part of that history is just going to be really cool to look back on," Aubrey said.
