TEXAS -- After months of a steady gain in jobs, Texas recorded 1,300 jobs lost this past August.
According to the Texas News Service that number has increased the state's unemployment rate from 8.4 percent in July to 8.5 percent in August.
This marks the first month since September of 2010 to have recorded a net loss in jobs.
Economists argue it could be due to government spending cuts as job losses are inevitable when federal government down sizes.
