Transformers head through Central Texas to be used in Japan
WACO -- Three long-haul rigs loaded with huge transformers are headed to Japan Friday. The last of the transformers passed through Central Texas Friday morning.
They will be used in Japan to help power areas struck by the tsunami.
"It took a great deal of coordination in a short period of time to pull this off,” said Carol Davis, Motor Carrier Division director. "TxDOT divisions and districts worked closely with an engineering consultant to accomplish in a few days what would normally take weeks."
