Veterans in Waco are having a hard time finding jobs during these hard economic times.

The Texas Veterans Commission is working with business' around the area, to give veterans more opportunities for job positions. Several veteran organizations are hosting a job fair, offering veterans a chance to learn more about their eligibility for veteran benefits, as well as hiring opportunities.

The job fair will also help veterans focus on their areas of expertise, to find a job they would enjoy, rather than having limited options.

Veteran Service officer, Steve Hernandez, says Veterans who do not have college experience, but still have working experience, are being overlooked by some employers, due to their lack of education. This fair will show employers that the veterans do have the necessary skills for the jobs, regardless their education level.

The Veterans Benefits and Job Fair will take place this Wednesday, at the American Legion Hall in Waco, from 10:00 am to 2 p.m.. All veterans needing job assistance are encouraged to attend.
