WACO - Police say a Waco University High School student bolted after being arrested in class Thursday. The Waco Independent School District Police first arrested him after receiving a notice of violation of probation. Dale Caffey withWaco ISD says 17 year old Kevin Williams was sitting in the school police office when he noticed a chance to run and took it. Police were doing paperwork when he fled in cuffs to a church across the street from the school.
Toronica Shores, a parent at the school, says it's a sad situation. "We never know what's going on in the lives of the children out here now a days," says Shores. "We don't know what drove him to go to such extremes."
Officers found Williams minutes later. He was transferred to the Highway 6 Jail. Williams faces a violation of probation and felony escape for running along with motor vehicle theft.
