WACO -- An 18-year-old is dead and rescue teams are searching for his body after a drowning in Lake Waco.
The teen drowned near Airport Park.
Fox 44 was there as rescue teams were out looking for looking for the body of 18-year-old Atahualpa Rosas since 3 Friday afternoon. Dozens waited on the shore for any sign of hope.
Police say Rosas was with a group of 12 friends near Airport Park.
They were playing volleyball and enjoying the lake when a walk on the ridge turned deadly.
"A couple of the kids decided to swim to one of the buoys behind me here. They swam out to the buoy and swam back. Two of the other kids tried to walk out on to the buoy on one of the ridges. They lost their footing on the ridge, one of the kids swam back, the other kid couldn't swim back," said Officer Joe Neal with Waco Police.
Rosas was an A.J. Moore Academy graduate. People around the scene say he was in the top ten of his class and on his way to Baylor for college.
