Killeen Police have identified the body as 22-year-old Marcus Antonio Gonsalves, of Copperas Cover.
Police still do not have any suspects or leads in the case. They ask anyone who knew Gonsalves or has any information about his murder to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
Killeen Police are investigating the death of a 30-year-old man who was found in a field in the 7000 block of Osbaldo Drive Friday morning.
Police received a 911 call shortly after 10 a.m. saying there was a man down in the field area. Officers arrived to find a dead man with a wound to his head. The man appeared to be a light skinned black or Hispanic male, about 30-years-old with several tattoos; one on the inside of his forearm that reads “1-Deep”.
Detectives do not know the identity of the man at this time. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke pronounced him dead at 10:51a.m. and ordered an autopsy at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
Investigators believe the murder happened late last night.
